About
Hi! I'm Rebecca, your friendly editor and writer.
Yes, that grinning fool in the picture is me.
I edit and write both fiction and non-fiction, and it gives my pedantic heart such joy to return clean copy to a writer, or to complete a blog post or landing page for a client. I find a job well done to be immensely satisfying, and I care deeply about producing the best work possible. I believe that the act of writing something down is to preserve a moment which might otherwise slip away, unnoticed. It is to mark a fleeting emotion, to share a glimpse of yourself with others whom you might never meet. It lays our fears and joys bare; if done well, it lingers in our memories long after the last page has been read.
What does this mean for you? As an editor, it means I'm committed to your project - to making it better, to helping you tell your story. I offer targeted feedback, drawing on my years of editing and writing experience, my strong research background, and my love for the written word. As a writer, it means I'm dedicated to communicating your idea to the world.
And me? Well, I live in a seaside town on the south coast of Western Australia, where it rains a lot (for a sunburnt country), which suits my penchant for hoodies and lots of tea. I grew up on a farm and, once upon a time, had a pet kangaroo. I've been an ESL tutor, a high school teacher, waited tables, and worked in retail management and supermarkets. I've studied philosophy, German, French, English Literature, and politics, and I'm now a parent to four children and a human companion to a dog, cats, and chickens. The thread which holds all these random life experiences together is words: reading and writing them. It's been a constant, and I'm so delighted that I get to play with them for a living.
